Our Cheer Squad!

When we were at NeeNaw and Peep's a few weeks ago, the girls had a photo shoot with PeePaw to get a shot for their Christmas cards. The girls were so patient and did a great job! Below are a few of the shots from the day. I had to wait to post them until after NeeNaw sent out her Christmas cards....I didn't want to steal her thunder. he he "Sissy, I'm tired!!"

This is one of my favorite shots....my laughing angels!

I'm so blessed to have these two little stinkers, and they
absolutely adore each other!

Basketball Update

McKenzee's first basketball game was Tuesday. She didn't start, but played very well and got playing time in 3 of the 4 quarters. She scored her first career basket. The coaches were so impressed with her hustle during the game, that at practice on Wednesday, they made her a starter. Congratulations Mackee!!!!

Another Basketball Star in the Family!!!

Believe it or not, MY daughter is the TALL one in the middle..... and when I say "another basketball star..." I am no part of that equation. Those of you that know me, know that I don't have an athletic bone in my body. But, our family does have quite a basketball history, on both sides. My Grandmother Dobbs was a basketball STAR back in the day. She played on a state championship team and was offered full scholarships to several schools including Baylor and UT, before her parents smashed her dreams, telling her that she had enough school and didn't need to go to college, it was time to go to work. My Aunt Charlotte (aka: MeeMaw Charlotte) was an awesome basketball star in high school. Fast forward a generations to my cousin Randa who is an awesome basketball player and fulfilled my Grandmother's dream by earning a scholarship at the University of Texas. Now, my daughter is following in those great footsteps. Last week Mackee's school had basketball tryouts and I have to admit that my heart dropped when I found out that 130 7th graders were trying out for 24 spots. After 3 days of evaluations, McKenzee came home with the great news that she had made the team. Two days later, she was elated to learn that she not only made the cut, she made the "A Team". Daddy Paul is beside himself, and they are like two kids in a candy store talking about offenses, defenses, and drills. (just in case anyone didn't know, my husband is a high school basketball coach).
Great Job, Mackee!!! We can't wait to see you in action!

McKenzee's Birthday!!!

McKenzee had an awesome 13th Birthday. She got lots of great presents and had her first "Co-ed Birthday party". We had a digital camera scavenger hunt, which seemed to be a huge success, according to McKenzee and her friends.

McKenzee got birthday wishes from all our sweet family. Thanks so much NeeNaw & PeePaw, Grandma, Great Grandma Jo Jo and Great Grandpa Frank, Pop Pop & Bon Bon, Poppy Wally & Christy, Aunt Wee & Uncle Eric, Aunt Jennifer & Uncle Jake, and Aunt Carol and Josh for making McKenzee's day so special.

Special, special "Thank you to Aunt Randa and Uncle Matt for being our party planners and hosts. You guys ROCK!!!!

This is McKenzee and her special "13th Birthday present" from NeeNaw and PeePaw,
her first Coach purse. Goodness gracious! I had to wait until I was 37 to get my first Coach. But I can relate to her excitment, because my sweet Ninnie bought me a Gucci when I was about the same age and I remember being on "Cloud 9". Awe, the simple things in life that bring such joy....hand bags and shoes....what more could a girl need? ha ha

Paige's 2nd Birthday!

Mommy, this is the BEST cupcake EVER!!!!

Finger Lickin' Good!!!!!

Party Princesses!!!!!!

O.K. this post is a little out dated, seeing as Paige turned 2 in April....but somehow, I just ran across all the pictures from the party, when I was getting McKenzee's party pictures together.
Paige's party theme was "Abby Cadabby" from Sesame Street. She and her best friends Rylee and Jaci had a wonderful time, dressing up as Princesses. Here are a few pics from the party.

Wow! How time flies!!! I absolutely can't believe that it's been 13 years
since my first precious angel entered my life. Thirteen years ago, at 10:17am,
I met the most beautiful girl I had ever seen and she has just gotten more beautiful every day since. I'll post all the party pics and others later today. I love you McKenzee Suzanne and I couldn't be prouder!!!!

Halloween Flashback!

McKenzee's Sunday School class chose "Flashback" as their Halloween theme for the church Fall Festival. She chose the 80's, obviously...complete with my jacket from high school. (she's in the center with all the stars on her sleeve)

New Era for us all!!!

I wish that I could take credit for these wonderfully eloquent words, but I copied them from a blog that I follow regularly. It is time to pray for our Country, our new President, and the tough decisions and situations that are ahead of us all. This statement sums up my exact feelings today. I pray that our country finds peace and healing now that this long battle is behind us.

"Today is a NEW ERA. Regardless of who you voted for or why, it’s time to switch gears. It’s time to pray for Obama as he transitions to become the President of the United States. And furthermore, you need to know this is not a surprise to God. Before the billions of dollars were spent on this campaign, God already knew the outcome. He wasn’t sitting around the television last night ringing his hands like you were.He doesn’t need a Republican or a Democrat, an electoral vote, or a state. He’s not red or blue. He’s God.He’s God and I’m not. You’re Not. Obama is not. McCain is not.So if your candidate lost. I’m sorry. If you’re worried your issues aren’t going to be being addressed. I’m sorry. But God is still God and He’s still sitting on His throne.Let’s move on."

Paige Tunes

One of the things that I love about Paige going to school at our church, is the fact that she's learning Bible stories and Songs and loves to come home and share them with us. Last year she came home and told us the whole story of Jonah and the whale....we were quite impressed.
She's always singing about the B-I-B-L-E, or how God has the "Whole World In His Hands". But, yesterday she started a new song. McKenzee looked at me with a puzzled expression and asked "Why is Paige singing about Pink Dr. Pepper in her socks???" After a few listens I finally deciphered that Paige was singing "I've got peace like a river in my SOUL!" ....or at least her version of it....she even knows the other verses "Joy like the Ocean" and "Something like a Mountain". My friend Tanya, who is the First Baptist Academy Director, said that Paige sings her class to sleep every day during nap time..........I have no idea where she gets THAT from????

Our Future Teacher

Well, we've already done the aptitude test and learned that Paige is destined to be the family's next teacher. Her favorite playtime activity is lining up her "class" and reading books to them. It's pretty amazing. She has actually memorized several books almost word for word and loves reciting them to the class. She even stops, periodically, to scold them...."No ma'am, No hitting!!!", "You need to share!!!"

Alice-Ann's Shower

I'm a little tardy with this post, but welcome to my life.....I feel like I'm chasing my tail 24/7. This was a shower for our sweet friend Allison (whom we lovingly refer to as Alice-Ann). She and Wendee were college roommates and did a great job of keeping Steen Hall and the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority House entertained on a daily basis! I'm proud to announce that Allison and her husband, Randy, welcomed their precious baby girl, Clara Beth, last week. We are so happy for you guys, Allison and Randy!!! Can't wait to see precious CB in person!

Boot Camp 08

Youth Boot Camp - Sabine Creek Ranch

I wish that these pictures would come out bigger, but this is as large as they will go. McKenzee and I spent last weekend with the church youth group at our annual Fall Retreat. This was McKenzee's first official activity since she promoted to the "Youth Group". We had a great time. The theme was "Boot Camp-Back to Basics". Everyone wore camo all weekend, and had a blast. We had a 10 event obstacle course that the kids absolutely loved. The picture on the left is of all the adult youth leaders who attended. I am in the brown t-shirt in the center of the front row. The picture on the right is McKenzee doing the balance beam over the water. The guys in the water were successful in knocking her off twice before she made it back to shore. We had 130 kids and and 25 adults, and it was an awesome weekend!

TeeLee TV

Alright now, I know that I am being self indulgent putting this on my blog, but come on now....How many times might I be on TV in my life time?

New Paigeism

Paige and I were leaving McKenzee's school yesterday morning and she said "Mommy, let's go LEFT." I asked her which way was left and she pointed in the correct direction. I said "Paige you are SO SMART." She said "I know Mommy, I'm FART and you are FART, too!"

Dang, I'm Old!!!

Well 38 hit me a little harder today than I had expected. McKenzee's friend said "Happy Birthday Ms. TeeLee. How old are you, 21???" I laughed and said, "Yeah, 17 years ago"......then I thought "17 YEARS AGO????" I graduated from high school when I was 17, and ,since then, I've lived long enough to reach the legal drinking age, all over again. How did this happen??? I definitely don't feel that old!
But on a serious note, I had a wonderful day, with lots of very sweet Birthday Wishes!
Looking forward to 39...................................

McKenzee's First Game

On Monday, McKenzee had her first
Football game....actually games. They get to cheer at both the 7th grade A and B Team games....which makes for a LONG night. But, she loved every minute of it and did a great job. NeeNaw and PeePaw came to the game and we are all so proud of her!

Love This!!!

Found this picture on the blog of a "friend of a friend"
and I couldn't resist putting it on my blog, too! I love it!

P.S. Kelly I don't know Christy Hart, but she sure
seems like my kind of girl! Tell her thanks for the great
picture!

I love Sarah Palin!

Forget Vice President......Sarah Palin for President.
How AWESOME was her speech???!!! This is my kind of woman!
I don't usually get excited about politics, but I think that she WILL do an awesome job!!!!

Summer Fun!

Ah the joys of being 2!!! You can hang out in the front yard in nothing but a diaper, and a garden hose can provide hours of fun!

Our Lean Mean Football Machine

Here's Graham in his football practice uniform. Dad brought home the tackling dummy this weekend, to work on some fundamentals. Graham has always been such a sweet, polite kid that Paul is really having to work on convincing him that it o.k. to knock someone to the ground on purpose.
I can't wait for the first game next Saturday....and ofcourse it's going to be Crandall (Graham's school) vs. Forney (McKenzee's school).

1st Day Quote

O.K., here is the official quote from McKenzee, when asked
how she liked her first day of "Junior High"....she refuses to
call it "Middle School".........

"It was Awesome, Blossom, Fabulous, FANTASTIC!"

(Her exact words upon sitting down in the car at 3:55 yesterday afternoon)

Weepy Morning!

Well, I have to confess that I had a pretty weepy morning. My sweet, oldest daughter headed off to her first day of junior high. She was so excited because they had to arrive early, in their cheerleader uniform, to play hostess and show confused students to their lockers, etc.

She woke up at 6:00am and walked in the kitchen, ready to go, about 5 minutes later. I was really strong as long as she was with me, but as I drove away from the Middle School, ofcourse I shed a couple of tears.

I had a flashback of dropping her off at kindergarten YESTERDAY! I always laughed at my Mom when she told me to enjoy every second because the time would fly by and before I knew it she would be in High School..... I now realize, that the time goes twice as fast as I ever imagined it would. I could not be more proud of what a beautiful, intelligent, kind-hearted young lady she is turning out to be. She loves the Lord and even corrects my bad attitude at times. She's an incredible blessing to our lives everyday and I treasure her more than she will ever know!

Mama Mia

McKenzee and I have been anxiously awaiting the opening of "Mama Mia" at the movies.
I've always been a HUGE ABBA fan, so when the Musical came through Dallas several years ago, I bought tickets and took my Father in law, Jim, who is also a HUGE ABBA fan. We left the theater singing and dancing......and I knew that I had to take McKenzee to see it. I bought another set of tickets for the next week and Wendee and I took McKenzee, and again, we all left singing and dancing! When we heard that they were going to make a movie we couldn't wait.
Last week we finally got a chance to have a late night Mother Daughter movie date and headed to the 10 pm show. It did not disappoint! Yes, it's a little goofy at times, and as a dancer I cringed at Meryl Streep's attempts at choreographed movement.......but the Greek scenery was breathtaking, and the music was awesome! We will own this movie as soon as the DVD comes out!

Paigism Part 2

Paige and I were driving home today, when out of the blue she said "I want to go to NeeNaw's right now." (NeeNaw is my Mom) I told her that NeeNaw's was a little too far away to go right now, but we could call her. We called NeeNaw, and Paige talked to her for a few minutes and then it was my turn. NeeNaw and I were having a nice conversation when Paige started yelling to get my attention....."Mommy, I need firty dowars" what????????? "Mommy I need firty dowars" I finally deciphered that to be "Mommy I need $30". Dumb founded I asked my 2 year old why she needed Firty Dowars, to which she replied "To get to NeeNaws"!!! Oh my!
As my Daddy says......this little one is going to give me a run for my money!!!!!

Big Girl Bed!!!!

Daddy and I have been talking alot lately about putting away the crib and moving Paige to a big girl bed.....ughhhhh, she was ready, but I'm not so sure about Mommy. Then McKenzee suggested that we give Paige the bottom section of her bunk bed....Long story short, McKenzee has a bunk bed like they had on the show "Different Strokes" where the bottom bunk comes out perpendicular to the top bunk. She liked it for the first couple of years, but has since decided it takes up too much of her room. (Ya know, her priorities have changed and she now needs room to practice dance and cheer in her room....heaven help us!)
Anyway, Daddy got a jump on the project while I was at work this week and did the conversion all by himself. All of us were thrilled with the change and Paige has had 2 "almost" successful nights in her new bed....she's learned how to navigate the halls to Mommy and Daddy's room, in the dark, quite well. This is the comforter set that McKenzee had at our old house, and Paige is using it temporarily until I decide the new design for her big girl room. I'm leaning towards "Lady Bug Picnic" Set at Target....I'm a sucker for lady bugs!!!!

Cooper Matthew is Here!

Our newest family member arrived last Saturday. He was so close to being a record baby. Randa was in labor all day on Friday 8/8/08, but Cooper was stubborn and didn't come until 38 minutes after midnight. So his birthday is 8/9/08......but he weighed 8lbs 8oz. His Dad said that he was kind of glad that he didn't come until the 9th because all of those 8s would have been a little freaky. Cooper is pictured here with "Big Sister" Rylee. (aka Paige's Best Cousin)
We all need to say a prayer for this little guy.........I can only imagine the bossing that he is going to be subjected to by "Little Mommies" Rylee and Paige!

Paige-isms

There are things that Paige says and does on a daily basis that just crack us up!!!!

2 of the most recent Paige-isms are:

Upon going out to PopPop's garden in "Jackonbill" (Jacksonville), Paige asked if they could please go in and eat some of PopPop's "Cute-numbers" (cucumbers)???

We have gone to the airport twice this Summer to pick up Paul.....the second time, as soon as we walked in the doors, Paige announced, very emphatically, that she "Needed to see the alligator". We had about 30 minutes to wait, so I decided to play along. We walked around the airport and I would point to different things, asking "Is that the alligator???" The answer was always "NO" and she was getting increasingly agitated with the fact that I didn't know EXACTLY what she was looking for. Finally I suggested that we continue to walk and she could tell me if she saw the alligator.......All of a sudden she got VERY EXCITED and screamed "There it is!!! There's the alligator!!!" And it was at that second I found out that Paige's word for ESCALATOR is "ALLIGATOR". We spent the next 20 minutes riding up and down the super exciting alligator.

Never a dull moment with this little FIRECRACKER!!!

Special Friends

I will always treasure this picture! These are 5 of the 9 classmates who started in the same Kindergarten class, at Little Red School House,
and went all the way through school together.
Pictured are Monty Nairn, Kristi Nipper, Me (always the shortest one), Denise Schuerenberg, and Scott Watson (my senior prom date).
Sadly, we were missing Jason Eddy, Sharla Floyd, Katrina Gragson and Jill Talbot, to make our set complete.
It's sad that you have to reach "this age" to realize how special it is to have friends who have known you this long and still love inspite of knowing you inside and out! ;-)

This Math Doesn't Add Up!!!

I can't figure out how this can be right....how can I have a 20th High School Reunion when I am only 29???? Yeah, Right. I know I'm not fooling anyone, Huh? This picture is only about half of the people that showed up for our reunion. Iti is actually only those of us who went to Agnew Junior High. The big group picture looked like a bunch of ants when I tried to load it on here. We had such a great time talking about the good old days and getting caught up on everyone's lives. I'm not sure what we are all laughing about in this picture, but we all look so happy! I'm on the second row, far right...incase you're having trouble finding me.

Seven Years!

Wow, time sure flies when you are having fun!!! Paul and I just celebrated our 7TH ANNIVERSARY on Monday. We took a whirlwind trip to Shreveport and did some playing at the Horeshoe. We had a really good time and stuffed ourselves on the buffet. We talked about how fun it would be to go to Vegas again, but both agreed that we just couldn't be away from the little ones that long. We are going to take a family trip to Schlitterbahn next week, since we aren't taking any major trips this Summer. My little daredevil Paige is going to LOVE the slides!
I just hope that I can keep up with her!

My Girls

Since I'm just getting started on my blog, I thought that I would do some back tracking and post some pictures of my girls, from the last few years.

Then I'll get busy keeping up to date on our day to day activities.

4th of July

We all headed to Mineola for the annual 4th of July celebration.
As you can see from the photo, NeeNaw had all of her girls there,
including our latest addition....Baby Edee, or as Paige calls her
"My baby sister".
Pictured are Paige (2), TeeLee, McKenzee (12), Edee (2 mos.),
and Wendee.
